Upon your arrival in Lhasa, whether it be by plane or train, a warm greeting awaits from your guide who will escort you to your hotel. En route, marvel at the sights of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, also known as the Brahmaputra River, Tibet's longest and largest river, along with the Lhasa River.

Once in Lhasa, take the opportunity to rest and acclimate to the high altitude. Should you feel up to it, a visit to Potala Square is recommended, where the colorful fountains offer a picturesque setting for photos against the backdrop of the Potala Palace.

Insider Tips: For those new to Tibet, acclimatizing to the altitude is crucial. A restful night in your hotel is advisable before exploring the Lhasa city attractions.

The day's exploration begins at the Potala Palace, the Dalai Lama's winter residence, utilized since the 7th century by Tibet's 33rd king. Its treasures include the golden burial stupas of past Dalai Lamas and the meditation cave of Tibet's 33rd king.

Post-lunch, the journey continues to the Jokhang Temple, established in the 7th century by the 33rd king of Tibet. Here, behold the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at twelve years old, and witness pilgrims prostrating before the temple. The surrounding Barkhor Street offers a chance to perform kora with pilgrims and locals, exploring the bustling old market.

Additionally, enjoy a local Tibetan tea in a tea house and a welcoming dinner.

Morning visits take you to Drepung Monastery, one of Tibet's "great three" Gelug monasteries, founded in 1416. Explore the largest monastery kitchen and a nearby Buddhist Sculpture Carving workshop.

In the afternoon, Sera Monastery awaits, another of the "great three" Gelug monasteries, famous for its monk debates from 3-5 pm. Inside, discover the Tibetan religious scripture printing house, three sand mandalas, and vibrant rock paintings of Buddha.

Traveling along the Friendship Highway, the journey to Gyantse unveils, reaching the Kambala pass (4794m high) for panoramic views of the deep turquoise Yamdrok-tso Lake from Kangpa-la pass (4700m above sea level). In Gyantse, visit the remarkable Kumbum Stupa, an architectural marvel in Tibet.

An early start leads to Shigatse, 90km from Gyantse, to visit the Tashilunpo Monastery and the grand tombs of Panchen Lamas. Continuing along the Friendship Highway to Old Tingri via Lhatse and Shegar, enjoy views of Cho Oyu while your guide prepares for the upcoming trek.

The trek commences from Old Tingri, crossing the expansive Tingri plain and parts of the Ra-chu Valley. Admire the picturesque valley, dotted with meadows, sheep, and goats. A visit to a small monastery in Choelun introduces you to a region inhabited by herders and barley harvesters.

Today marks the beginning of the more strenuous segment of our trek as we ascend into the mountains. A considerable amount of uphill walking awaits as we make our way to the summit of Nam-La. Our campsite will be set just below the crest of this pass, offering a serene camping experience in the Nam-la valley.

With the break of dawn, our trek resumes, leading us to encounters with yak herders and their families. The day’s journey concludes in the quaint village of Zommug, where we will camp. Here, trekkers will have the opportunity to witness a breathtaking sunset amidst the stark beauty of this barren landscape.

Our trekking adventure culminates today as we navigate our way to our final destinations: Rongbuk and Everest Base Camp. Along the route, we'll have the chance to visit the historical Dza Rongbuk Monastery, immersing ourselves in its rich past.

A brief journey from Rongpuk takes us to Lhatse, followed by a return trip along the Friendship Highway to Sakya. A relaxing interlude at the Xiqian hot spring near Lhatse is highly recommended.

Our journey concludes with a visit to the esteemed Sakya Monastery, a pivotal center for the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. This monastery has played a crucial role in Tibetan governance during the Sakya dominion, with its historic edifices still standing tall. The monastery's great library houses the world's largest book, written in gold.
