Upon arrival in Lhasa by either plane or train, visitors are warmly welcomed by our local Tibetan tour guides at the airport. A private vehicle will escort you to Lhasa, allowing for some time to acclimate to the altitude and explore the old town at your leisure.

The day begins with a visit to the iconic Potala Palace, where tourists can wander through its vast array of chapels, audience halls, and the ornate burial stupas (chortens) of previous Dalai Lamas, adorned with jewels and gold. The palace is also home to an extensive collection of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, mandalas, and statues crafted from precious metals. In the afternoon, the journey continues to Tibet's most sacred temple, the Jokhang Temple. Established by Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty in 647 A.D. during the reign of Songtsen Gampo, its interior boasts prayer wheels and murals rich in gold on red backgrounds, illustrating a thousand Buddhas among stupas and relief images.

The pilgrimage path encircling the Jokhang Temple, known as Barkhor Street, has evolved into the heart of the city. The bustling Barkhor market is the epicenter of Tibetan culture, offering an array of traditional Tibetan crafts, religious items, antiques, books, musical instruments, thangkas, and clothing.

Departing early for Gyantse, the journey traverses 300 km of smooth asphalt, highlighted by the breathtaking views of Yamdrok-tso from Mt. Gangbala, its deep turquoise hues resembling a coiling scorpion. The trip also includes a passage over the 4960m Karo-la pass, offering spectacular glacier views, before arriving in Gyantse to explore the Kumbum Monastery with its striking 35m-high stupa, adorned with golden domes and decorative stripes.

The day's travels lead to the renowned Tashi Lhunpo Monastery and onwards through smooth tar roads to Sakya, home to the Sakya Monastery. This region, central to the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, was once the political heart of Tibet. Highlights include the world's largest book written in gold, housed within Sakya's vast library.

A morning visit to Sakya Monastery offers insights into its historic significance and the opportunity to view the world's largest gold-inscribed book. The journey then advances towards Rongpuk, the gateway to Everest, with awe-inspiring views at the Gyalpo-la pass and the first glimpse of Everest's majestic peak.

A preparatory trek from Rongbuk Monastery to EBC introduces trekkers to the vast Rongbuk Glacier, the largest of the glaciers surrounding Mount Everest. This trek alongside the chilling waters of the Rongbuk River sets the stage for an unforgettable camping experience at EBC.

Embarking on the trek to Camp 1 (5450m) presents the initial challenge of your journey. Traversing alongside the massive Rongpuk Glacier, the path meanders to the east of this icy expanse, gradually making its ascent towards the summit of Mount Everest. Although the distance is relatively modest, the elevation might prove challenging for some. Take this day to acclimate, exploring the magnificent surroundings that this high-altitude terrain has to offer.

Setting out from Camp 1, today's trek transitions from the gravelly hills west of the glacier to a more rugged terrain. Another day filled with scenic beauty awaits as you prepare to spend the night at the Interim Camp, encircled by awe-inspiring ice pinnacles in every direction—a truly remarkable experience.

Today’s trek propels us further into the heart of Everest’s glacial landscape as we converge with the Changste Glacier. Navigating through this icy labyrinth offers a unique and incredible mountaineering experience. The campsite at Camp 2 is arguably even more stunning than previous locations, enveloped by a panorama of glaciers and cascading ice formations.

Note: In the summer, river levels may rise, preventing yaks from crossing. In such cases, we depart early from the Interim Camp (5760m) towards ABC and then return to the Interim Camp.

The decision to overnight at Base Camp 3 or to return to Camp 2 post-visit is left to your discretion. Opting to stay at Camp 2 might make tomorrow's descent more pleasant. However, camping at the higher and more awe-inspiring location of Camp 3 is an option. Positioned amidst flat gravel mounds adjacent to the glacier, Camp 3 offers breathtaking views of Everest’s pinnacles, ridges, and rock summit—just 2400 meters below the peak.

Accommodation options vary.

The return journey to Everest Base Camp marks a long day of descending from the higher elevations. The path back is filled with incredible vistas, bidding farewell to the majestic peak.
